Exhibition Report - May 2004

Oxfordshire ArtWeeks Exhibition - May 2004 - St. Nicolas's Church.

Boats for Hire by Allen Shufflebotham ©2004Besiberri by John Stephen ©2004The May 2004 exhibition was part of the Oxfordshire ArtWeeks festival. For the second year we thank St. Nicolas's Church for hosting the exhibition, and again it went very well. There were 115 hung paintings from 45 artists and the quality and diversity was high. The show was opened by Vernon Butt, and Rev. Peter Doll made some comments of welcome. The deputy mayor and the town clerk were among those present. There were about 800 visitors. We reinstated the use of a catalogue, and thank our four sponsors for helping with this.

Pauline's painting of poppies was raffled. Two paintings by Allen Shufflebotham were in joint first place: "The Encaenia Commemoration" and "Boats for Hire". Just one vote behind and in equal third place were Marion Cox's "Portrait Study" and John Stephen's "Besiberri". We will raffle Marion's painting in the autumn.
